Welcome to the Wiki[]

Dietary Supplements are no longer a thing for eccentric, new-age, tree-hugging super vegans (stereotypes we take great offense to, for the record), but rather an important and widely accepted part of human health. This page will explore the many roles that dietary supplements have, and will continue to play in the lives of millions.

The Basics[]

Each year over 150 million Americans turn to dietary supplements to help support a healthy lifestyle. Some do this daily, others semi-regularly, and some only when the need arises, such as during cold & flu season, when they're joints and muscles are hurting, and countless others. Throughout this Wiki, we will explore some of the lesser-known facts about dietary supplements and the people who use, manufacture and sell them, the impact they've had on society, and some of the most popular products abailable by each key health categorie.

Here are a few fun facts you may not have known about dietary supplements:

  • Contrary to massive widespread opinion, dietary supplement manufacturers ARE, in fact, regulated by the FDA. Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards were put into place by the Food and Drug Administration in 2010, as a means of improving safety and quality throughout the industry. Despite this inarguable fact, organizations who stand to lose revenues to dietary supplements go to great lengths to mislead the public. Smear campaigns, high-priced lobby efforts and bogus endorsements remain one of the most detrimental threats to the integrity of the Natural Products industry.
  • It has been shown that people who use dietary supplements are far more likely to partake in other health practices, such as balanced diet, regular exercise, stress management, proper sleep and regular medical check-ups.
  • In 1994, The Dietary Safetly Health and Education Act (DSHEA) was signed, and to this day is the only reason that health enthusiasts have the freedom to use and sell safe dietary supplements. This act is constantly under attack by agenda-driven groups who want nothing more than to take away our right to support good health via dietary supplementation.
